He has been on the run after leaving the Red Dragon Syndicate, as he faked his death to leave the group.

But he’s still fighting!

While he looks for criminals and takes them down, he can’t afford to be too visible or else he will lose his cover. His calm demeanor is an essential part of what makes him powerful.

Have you seen Goku?

You probably have.

Dragon Ball is a long-running anime about Goku, a warrior who defends Earth against various evils. The show has included many spinoffs, and Goku continues to fight for Earth and train new warriors.

But who is Goku?

Goku is a Saiyan, a human-like extraterrestrial being. While many Saiyans have attacked planets in the past, some like Goku want to use their powers for peace.

But he’s focused on more than working for himself.

Goku has trained many warriors and always emphasizes trustworthiness and loyalty. His work has helped prevent the destruction of the planet many times.

The Dragon Ball series has been adapted many times over the years, but Goku always remains the top character.

And here’s the best part:

He is one of the few characters to reach Super Saiyan 3 status, which is one of the most powerful physical forms anyone can attain. He can handle various transformations that rely on his power, making him an intimidating force.

A friendly note though…

Don’t be surprised if it takes a while for the story to get to the point.

Are there other big names in the Dragon Ball series?

Of course!

Here’s a good one for you:

Goku is a straightforward hero in the Dragon Ball series. But Vegeta took a while to get to the heroic position he is in today.

He is another Saiyan and is also one of the more powerful ones in the universe.

He started out as a villain who wanted to be more powerful than Goku, but he has since accepted his limits and wants to fight alongside Vegeta.

Vegeta is also strong, as he has reached the Super Saiyan 2 status.

For the record, that’s a good thing. Not as good as Goku, but it’s still big.

He’s strong alright.

He’s also capable of going over 9000. I don’t know what that means, but it’s clearly a good thing.

Let’s look at Yamcha.

Yamcha is another former enemy of Goku in Dragon Ball. He is a talented martial artist who is always ready for a fight, although he often struggles to find a decent girlfriend.

Yamcha is a partial earthling, and he has developed some of the ways of the Saiyan to become more of the most powerful humans in the Dragon Ball series.

So, he’s not a god-like being like Goku or Vegeta. But he’s still a valuable fighter himself!

What was your introduction to anime?

For many people, Astro Boy was that introduction.

But what makes Astro Boy so prominent? And where did he come from?

Let’s look.

He was first introduced as a manga in 1952 and eventually adapted into a television series. Astro Boy is historic for being the first anime to be localized for broadcast in the United States.

So what is he all about?

Here’s an answer.

The series is all about Astro Boy, a robot boy created by Doctor Temma to replace his deceased son. Astro Boy is an entertaining character who flies around and can fight enemies with rockets, machine guns, and superhuman speed.

In short, he’s a superpowered boy.

He’s Japan’s entry into the superhero world.

Superheroes dominate the world, you know.

But there’s more:

His amazing powers and charming appearance make him one of the most influential anime characters of all time. He continues to make appearances in anime programs.

He was even the subject of an animated movie made in the United States in the 2010s. It wasn’t one of Nicolas Cage’s best moments though.

Is he popular?

So, who is Katsuya? Or Joey, if you will?

Check this out:

He is a friend of Yugi who learns how to duel as the series progresses.

He doesn’t seem too professional, as he doesn’t use honorifics when he speaks. In other words, he’s not the most polite or respectful person.

But he’s more focused on being a winner in all his duels.

Plus, people love him!

Fans love him for his willingness to learn. He is also noted for how his skills develop to where he becomes almost as powerful of a fighter as Yugi himself.

Natsuki Subaru

So, who is the person in Re:Zero who went to a new world?

That person would be Natsuki Subaru.

Why is he named after a prominent car company? That’s besides the point. The real question is…

Why is he in this new world?

Now that’s a good question.

The mystery of why Natsuki Subaru was transported to a new world in Re:Zero is fascinating.

But while he tries to find why he has made his way into this new world, he quickly becomes a talented knight.

He learns many magical powers during the series and is enthusiastic about finding new things.

But there’s more.

Subaru also has the power of Return by Death. With this power, he will go back to a specific point in time after he dies. All his memories from his prior life will remain intact when he revives.

Which is interesting in its own, although it’s hard to figure.

Why is he so popular?

Subaru is a charming character who has become a true favorable among anime fans. This point comes as his future in “Another World” remains uncertain.

As for where he’d return to following the Return by Death power, it’s hard to say.

So, it’s no surprise there would be sports anime shows!

But what is sports anime?

Let’s look.

It’s a form of anime that’s about people competing in sporting events.

Any sport could have an anime. So, a studio could make a Ted Lasso knockoff and it would count as a soccer anime.

What sports anime shows have made an impact?

The Prince of Tennis is one of those sports animes that has made a mark.

The show follows Ryoma Echizen, a young tennis player attending a tennis academy.

Is One Piece the anime equivalent of the Simpsons?

They’re both programs that have been going on for seemingly forever.

How long has One Piece been going for?

As of August 2022, One Piece has more than a thousand episodes.

That’s nearly 300 more than the Simpsons and slightly more than the combined total of Law and Order and Law and Order Special Victims Unit.

When they’ll actually end remains unknown. But both have memorable characters, and Monkey D. Luffy is the big star of One Piece.

So, who is Monkey?

Here’s your answer.

Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist of One Piece, an anime about pirates searching for a mysterious treasure called the One Piece.

Monkey wants to be the king of all pirates, but he isn’t the brightest pirate in the bunch.

Why is he a star?

His fighting skills and willingness to defend his crew make him an intimidating force.

He also shows some unique supernatural powers, including immunity to lightning and the ability to redirect attacks people make against him.

He is a fearless pirate whose quest is still ongoing. The real question is whether One Piece will end before the Simpsons does.

Roronoa Zoro

A show that’s been going as long as One Piece would surely have some other memorable characters, right?

That’s where Roronoa comes into play. He’s a powerful pirate just as well.

What makes Roronoa so popular?

Here’s a look.

Roronoa is another pirate in One Piece searching for the eponymous treasure. He is the second-in-command to Monkey and wants to become the world’s greatest swordsman.

Roronoa is also a former bounty hunter who himself has one of the most valuable bounties on the seas. His left eye also glows sometimes, a sign he is trying to control his internal powers.

His attitude is different from Monkey’s, but they are good friends united together in finding the One Piece.

He’s one of only a small listing of characters in the series. But you shouldn’t be surprised a show with more episodes than the Simpsons would have so many characters.

Some characters have no gender, or they can go between ones.

Ranma is a male character, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be female.

So why is Ranma like this?

You’re about to find out.

Ranma ½ is an unconventional anime introduced as a manga in 1987. It transformed into an anime a few years later.

“Transformed” is an appropriate word when you consider what the show is about.

The series follows Ranma Saotome, a young martial arts student who has a unique curse he received after falling into a magical spring.

He becomes a girl when he is doused in cold water. He then goes back to being a boy when splashed with hot water.

Is this power useful?

Ranma is looking to remove this curse, but he does question whether he should at times. His ability to switch genders at will is often a helpful tool he can utilize to accomplish many goals.

What would you do if you had Ranma’s interesting power?

Fans of the series have long debated what they would do in his situation. Some are more willing to help others, but others might not have that same feeling.

Maybe it’s best I don’t ask. For obvious reasons.

Beyond that, he himself becomes a Titan because of how powerful he has become.

Eren is an interesting character, as he goes from being a hero to villain as the show progresses. But his desire to destroy Titans has always been out of vengeance and to keep them from hurting others.

Does an anime in school sound good?

Maybe not for some.

But for others…

You’ll find many school-based anime programs about young people studying.

Yes, it sounds unusual, as people might not want to think about school when watching anime. But it’s a setting that the audience can recognize, with characters people can relate to.

But some schools in anime are a little different, and the students in My Hero Academia are special.

My Hero Academia is about students in a school where almost everyone has a “quirk” or special power.

But what do we mean by “almost everyone?”

It’s Izuku that is that “almost.”

Izuku Midoriya is the only student in the school with no quirk, but he wants to find his someday.

Think of him as anime’s version of Mirabel from Encanto.

Except there’s more fighting and less singing.

Also, it’s in Japan and not Colombia. You get the idea.

Izuku wants to be a hero and is ready to fight. He wants to prove himself to everyone in school. His talents help him make his way through the school and eventually find a unique quirk for himself.

And what’s her power?

She has various frog-like powers, including the ability to leap far distances and cling to items, plus she can use her tongue to grab onto enemies.

While she has outstanding powers, she is also aloof and often doesn’t think twice before saying certain things. But she is always happy to help other people by using her superpowers.

Her amusing appearance and attitude make her a memorable character. Her awkwardness also makes her relatable to many of the show’s fans.

Robots and cyborgs are essential to anime, since many shows occur in the future.

Ghost In the Shell is a long-running series that includes a cyborg in the lead role.

But while you’ve seen many Ghost In the Shell movies, did you know it started as an anime?

Here’s the deal:

Ghost In the Shell is an anime in a futuristic Tokyo about Motoko Kusanagi, a woman whose brain is inside a cybernetic body.

What does she do?

She is a police officer who is always seeking justice and is ready to stop criminals. But she is also a mysterious and interesting character, as she often questions her humanity inside an artificial body.

She has been a cyborg since she was a child after an accident required her brain to be preserved to save her. This event has given her a life where she hasn’t felt human.

Her quandaries have made her very relatable to many fans.

It’s no wonder she’s been portrayed in so many productions.

Even Scarlet Johannson played her once!

Although some people were unhappy about it; whether their rationales for it were understandable remains debatable.

One Punch Man is like an equivalent of Superman.

But he’s much stronger!

Plus, his story has more drama and existential dread.

So, why is he the One Punch Man?

It’s obvious.

As the name of the anime he stars in suggests, Saitama is the One Punch Man who can win any fight with one punch.

What’s his origin story?

It’s simple:

He received his power through an interaction with a divine god-like cube that blessed him with immense power. But while he can stop anyone who enters his path, he also has an identity crisis because he is unstoppable.

Saitama doesn’t find fighting very thrilling, prompting him to become indifferent to much of the world. He wants to find a more formidable opponent he can fight to make his powers feel worthwhile.

But his feelings haven’t kept him from wanting to protect other people.

Boys aren’t the only ones who can enjoy anime.

That’s right, girls can fall in love with anime too.

No matter what executives think.

Sailor Moon is a series with many powerful ladies that appeal to boys and girls alike. Usagi Tsukino is one of those Guardians who make up the stars of Sailor Moon.

Who is Sailor Moon?

Well, Usagi is her real name.

But there’s more to her than a name.

Usagi Tsukino is a schoolgirl known as Sailor Moon, a guardian who protects the plant from many evil forces. She is a reincarnation of a leader of the Moon Kingdom, and she works with many other Guardians to fight evil.

Why do so many people love her?

Both boys and girls, that is.

Usagi is beloved for her strong spirit and amazing powers, and she is also popular for being a down-to-earth person who likes boys and doesn’t like English or math classes in school.

Her romantic life has also remained a point of interest among fans, as some have argued she may be bisexual. Like with so many other shows, she and other characters remain the subject of many fan theories.

Do you have any fan theories on anime? We’ve all been there, you know.

It’s no surprise that Sailor Moon is a hit. Everyone loves her!

Although an American studio did try to create an Americanized version of her show once.

As it turns out, people want to watch actual anime, not “x-treem” and “radikal” Americanized stuff.

One anime in Japan is so popular that it has coffee cafes around Japan dedicated to it.

But what would be so popular to where it rivals the Peanuts comic strip in branding in Japan?

That series is Case Closed, and it features one of the most memorable characters in anime.

Case Closed or Detective Conan is one of the longest-running anime programs ever, lasting more than a thousand episodes since its premiere in 1996.

What is it about?

And who is this Conan who appears in the title?

Here’s your answer.

The program follows Conan Edogawa, a detective who used to be a teenager. He was poisoned and then turned into a child, forcing him to adopt the Conan identity.

The series has many mysteries and memorable characters, with Conan being the most famous. His professional demeanor and will to do anything to advance his cause makes him a popular anime character.

There’s even a Conan Town located in Japan! And Conan O’Brien called that city out on his old talk show.

The detective still has his fame, but at least the talk show host still has his Walker Texas Ranger Lever.

The idea of a man alongside a bunch of women (or vice versa) sounds sexy, right?

But it’s not necessary like that all the time. Let’s be realistic, shall we?

Infinite Stratos is considered a harem anime.

But get your head out of the gutter!

We need to explain what on earth a harem anime is.

As a harem anime, it is a show that entails one man or woman being surrounded by a bunch of people of the opposite gender.

But harem animes aren’t necessarily sexual, and Infinite Stratos is a good example.

Who is the one surrounded by a huge harem in this show?

It’s Ichika, that’s who.

Ichika Orimura is a fish out of water in Infinite Stratos. He is the only male student in a boarding school filled with females looking to become pilots.

Ichika becomes the most essential student in school, as he is the only one who can successfully steer the Infinite Stratos.

He is very talented and ready to fight, but he is also unaware of how much the other women in the school love him. Women always fall in love with him, but he’s never aware of it.

There’s more to him as well.

What’s also interesting about Ichika is how he inherited a gene from a long-lost ancestor that gives him innate knowledge to pilot almost any mech.

His ability makes him a strong fighter who is very interesting to the audience.

Yes, there’s plenty of sexiness in anime. But come on, it’s not like it’s right out there?

If you want something really sexual, watch Adult Swim or Cinemax or something.

But Tokisadame is no ordinary anime, and Mio Naganohara is one example of what makes it special.

Mio is very cheerful, but she’s not afraid to become violent. She even attacked a police officer at one point to keep her most private artwork from being revealed.

It’s an odd thing, but not as unusual as suplexing livestock. Which happens in this show, by the way.
